You know, it’s been entirely too long since Daisy has made an appearance on the blog.
But don’t worry – she’s finally back! And today, she’s here to help me share something very important with you guys.
Are you ready Daisy?
So here’s the deal, it’s that Ho Ho Ho Time of Year again! Which means it’s time for gatherings, baking, snow, and everyone’s favourite . . . presents! ![]()
But not everyone is as lucky. There are some out there that won’t be able to afford to have a Christmas feast or open a lot of presents. Instead, they’ll be wondering how to meet their very basic necessities.
That’s why, in the spirit of giving, we (the Husband, Daisy, et moi!) have decided to bring back Cans 4 Comments for a second year!!!
So here is the deal – starting today and ending on December 23rd, we will donate one can of food to the local food bank for each person that comments on a blog post. Feel free to comment on every post! The more we donate the better!
And here’s my challenge to you – join us!!! If you write a blog then I encourage you to do the same thing. If you’re a reader then go ahead and make a donation all on your own. The important part is to share our blessings with those less fortunate!
If you do decide to do the same thing on your blog, please let me know and I’ll post a link!
So get to it peeps!!!
Have you started your Christmas baking yet? I’m waiting until closer to Christmas but I have grand plans for cookies galore! And you?

I’ll comment!! Awesome idea!
In my social problems in Canada class, we learned an interesting thing. Many people that go to the food bank have diabetes and other things that are possibly related to food, yet many things donated to the foodbank are unhealthy (canned goods aka meal in a tin), white pasta etc…
Our class is doing a food drive, and requesting healthy foods, including natural peanut butter, tomatoe sauces with no sugar, whole wheat pasta, whole grain rice, whole wheat crackers, canned veggies with no added fat/sugar… I just thought it was a very interesting thought, as it’s not something I ever would have thought of!!
Awesome idea though!! Hope you get LOADS of comments!!
Last year we ended up donating piles of chilli and hearty soup! We figured they were meals all set to go.
But I’ll totally keep your recommendations in mind!

Awesome! I figured you would, I was just really surprised by that, as when you look in the donations bins, it’s mostly unhealthy foods!! Just not something I would have every thought of!! Great job, can’t wait to see how many cans are donated!

What a cool idea!!!
I am hoping to do some Christmas baking this week. Christmas is sneaking up on me entirely too quickly this year!
I’m sure home buying has taken up pretty well all your time . . . so it’s totably understandable!

I hope you donate more cans than comments. Why wait for an excuse to do so?
Not waiting at all . . . in fact charitable giving is a monthly occurence (I sponsor a child through World Vision, I unofficially sponsor two cousins of mine in El Salvador, and we give money to animal charities). So you see, I don’t really need an excuse.
This is something fun because it’s Christmas!
And well, I’m hoping it will inspire others as well!

No Christmas baking here yet – it must wait until exams are over on Wednesday morning. Then I expect my kitchen to be flooded with sugar and butter galore! Mmm, sugar and butter…
My dad has actually been volunteering at our local food bank, so it’s interesting to hear how it is all run and how little food they actually are able to give out each week. A family can only come in once every two weeks, and gets a pretty minimal amount of food, as its meant to supplement, not completely meet their needs. He said they are always looking for more high protein foods (nut butters, canned fish, etc), and often don’t get a lot of juice to give out.

Noted – I’ll have to donate some almond butter. I tend to stay away from peanut butter because I empathize with my fellow allergy sufferers!
