Hola Bloggies:

It’s Saturday night and it’s a lovely one indeed! wlEmoticon smile3 A Cleanse for the Body, Mind, and Soul

I hope you guys are having a wonderful weekend, wherever you are too!

As for us here in the Rocky Mountain Casa, it’s one of those nights when I realize how very blessed I am. You see, the Husband only yesterday returned from a long work trip. Consequently, today has been full of snuggles!

In moments like these I feel so happy my heart could burst with joy!! wlEmoticon redheart1 A Cleanse for the Body, Mind, and Soul

So You Have a Stress Fracture – Update

Yesterday bloggies was a big day in my journey back to health; I hit the pool with the physio for a lesson in aqua-running and aqua-fit!

To do the running part she had me strap on a flotation belt that allowed me to stay upright and move my legs in a running motion while moving my arms in a similar fashion. Clearly, you can’t get more low-impact than aqua-running but it’s still an insane workout.

Just when I was starting to feel mega-tired from all the forwards and backwards running, she threw me for a loop and gave me some gloves that replicated web fingers. Talk about feeling the burn!

We finished off with some other aqua-fit accessories before calling it a day!

And not a moment too soon!!!!

Let’s put it this way, after an hour I was beat and starving. I’ll never assume aqua-fit is only for old ladies, ever again! wlEmoticon smilewithtongueout A Cleanse for the Body, Mind, and Soul

An Extended Cleanse

Most of you bloggies probably know that Lent started this past (Ash) Wednesday and continues until Easter Sunday. And as you’ve no doubt are aware, there are a lot of people choose to give something up during this period.

I, myself, have never participated in Lent – mostly because I’m Protestant and the whole giving something up thing tends to be a Catholic tradition. But this year I decided to change things up.

For this Lent season, I have decided to give up bread, noodles, and rice. I have also committed to eating more cleanly, concentrate on being a better person, and spend more time praying.

That’s why instead of calling it Lent – I’m calling this my 40 Day Cleanse for the Body, Mind, and Soul.

The idea is to treat my body better and grow in my faith – and what better time to do it than the lead-up to Easter! wlEmoticon angel A Cleanse for the Body, Mind, and Soul

A Gift for the Cleanse

In order to help me in the body aspect of these 40 days I gifted myself with a beautiful Breville Ikon Juicer and the book Crazy Sexy Diet!!!!

The book and juicer came sooner than I expected and this caused me to do a bit of a happy dance! I’ll even confess that I went to sleep that night with thoughts of morning juice dancing in my head.

When I woke up the next day I quickly ran downstairs and pulled out my juicer for my first cleansing, energy giving, and vitamin boosting concoction!

The arrival of the juicer caught me a bit unprepared on the fruit and veggies front but I gathered what I had in my fridge and set about inaugurating my new appliance.

The juicer worked quickly, efficiently, and surprisingly quietly! In no time flat I had a glass of beautiful juice.

My particular mix of fruit and veggies produces a swampy but delicious result. Since that first morning I have been juicing on a regular basis and eating extremely cleanly. At the same time I have been praying and working on my faith.

I know my version of Lent may not be for everyone but this is the way I’ve chosen to do it . . . and after all how someone chooses to become closer to their faith is a matter of personal choice! wlEmoticon winkingsmile3 A Cleanse for the Body, Mind, and Soul

Question: Do you participate in Lent? Are you, or have you ever given something up for Lent?

lol No worries . . . I know how hard it can be to catch up on everyone’s blogs. I try but sometimes I fail big time!

As for the juicer – it’s awesome! Did you ever end up doing that juice cleanse delivery service? :)

Glad to hear your husband is back :) I’m glad Eric doesn’t travel very often, I’d miss him too much :)

I’m not really that religious so I don’t celebrate Lent exactly. I like that you just call it the 40 Day Cleanse. Since I’m not religious it shouldn’t bother me, but for some reason I don’t like when people use lent to get healthy without admitting what they are up to- like you did haha. I feel like it’s become an excuse to go on a diet for some reason. Again I’m not religious so this is a totally random pet peeve that must coming from my Catholic upbringing haha.

Also have you heard from your sister’s host family in Japan at all? I’m wondering how they are doing…

Hi there,
Like you I’ve never given up or done anything special during the season of lent, that despite being Catholic. But this year, I turn 45, and I’ve turned rather contemplative. There is one thing I love a lot and that is alcohol, I enjoy the slight buzz and drink regularly, though not to get drunk. So this lent I intend cutting off alcohol and if I succeed that long, probably keep it alcohol free for the rest of the year.
Clean living is my goal. Oats, wheat germ, flaxseed, spinach salad, lentils, beans, tofu… are my staples, oh, how could I forget garlic and ginger.
I am also trying to stick with meditating thirty minutes daily. Does this sound like a plan or what? Look fwd to reading about your forty day journey.
