Since returning to Vancouver earlier this week, I have pondered how best to describe my trip to Toronto to you.

And after all that thinking, I’m not sure I really can put my trip home into words.

You see, it was more about a feeling.

I live a five hour plane ride away from my parents.

And I don’t get to see them very often.

So when I am back in Toronto, I drink in every moment.

In Toronto, my heart felt so full of love it could practically burst.

It was a magical time.
Question: Do you live near your parents? Do you get to see them very often? Do you find your relationship with them has changed over the years?

How lovely for you! I live very far away from my family(sometimes it feels a world away), so anytime I get to spend with them is pretty magical for me too!

lol It’s a seafood pho with a tom yum soup base
I originally took the picture because I was going to write a review of the restaurant (it’s my go-to Vietnamese place in Toronto). But unfortunately although delicious, it wasn’t as good as usual, so I am torn as to whether I’ll feature the restaurant. I probably will really soon though!

Great pictures, and you look so happy with your parents
I don’t feel that way when I see my own parents but I did have a great time with my in-laws

I love Montreal – but I really miss living near my family. I wish it was cheaper to go “home” for a visit…

I hear you – this flight home cost me nearly $1200. But even so, I’m going to make it a priority to see my parents at least once a year. I secretly harbour a hope that once we have kids, my parents will live much closer or at least spend months at a time with us.

What a great moment you shared! we feel that with the photos..My parents (now dead) lived so far away from me (Paris-Buenos Aires) That is sth I could never get over…having lost their last days on this world..it has been very tough for me!
I’m so sorry Cristina….
Unfortunately, I think what you experienced is the story for all immigrants. I have seen both my parents deal with the loss of a faraway loved one. It’s definitely not easy.

Thank-you Erin! I really was hoping what I felt came through!
I think Daisy felt the same way too – a couple of night’s she even chose to sleep with my parents instead of me! lol

I love the Shaw Cafe and Wine Bar! So glad you had an awesome time in Toronto!
I see my parents all the time and our relationship definitely changed. They are more like my best friends now.
It’s incredible how relationships with parents change throughout the years. My parents and I were always close but especially so now!
