A Birthday Update
Do you know what day it is friends? Well it’s practically the eve of my Birthday!!!!
November 15th, I turn 32. That’s not so young for a blogger girl but I’m totally proud of everything I’ve done in my life. I guess you could say, I’m tickled pink of both where I’ve been and where I’m going.
Of course, I couldn’t talk about my birthday without talking about a certain weight loss challenge I set for myself four months back. My goal was to lose 25lbs by my birthday and although I didn’t quite achieve that, I did lose 9 lbs! Now the way I see it, I could either look at that weight loss as a failure or instead I could look at it as 9 lbs I’ve managed to get rid of in a relatively brief period of time.
Unfortunately, life got in the way but somehow at the end of it all, I managed to strike some balance in my life and find my way back to wellness. Which is not to say my journey is over but I’m well on my way and I feel so much better than I did four months ago. In fact, just the other day I was at work wearing a suit that used to fit me quite snug, when I realized that there was a lot more room in it now! This despite the fact that it was buttoned up and I was sitting down.
It’s all about the little victories!
So here’s to the next year, and feeling a little less like this:
And looking a WHOLE lot more like this, instead:
The Great Fundraising Act – Redux
Most of my long time readers will remember that during the summer of 2011, I wrote “A Post for my Friend Susan.” Practically overnight, Susan went from being a young and vibrant trainer with an unusual pain in her neck, to a cancer patient with all the worries that come along with the unfortunate title.
One of Susan’s biggest worries was the money she would need to cover the medications she would require for her treatment. Seeing a need, the fantastic Janetha (of Meals and Moves) organized an online auction called “The Great Fundraising Act.” A lot of us bloggers spread the word and donated whatever we could to help out one of our own. In the end, the auction raised over $25,000!!!!!!!!!
Now, I’m proud to report that my friend Susan is cancer free!!! And now that she’s back to her normal life, she’s decided to take part in the Edinburgh Rock n’ Roll Half Marathon to raise funds for leukemia and lymphoma research. And that’s where “The Great Fundraising Act – Redux” comes in.
On November 14th, 2012, Susan is hosting a fundraiser over at her new blog. Bidding opens on November 14th, 2012 at 6am EST and ends on November 16th, 2012 at 11pm EST. You can find all the items up for bid here.
Please spread the word about the auction and help my friend Susan meet her fundraising goals!
Question: Do you plan on doing any Black Friday shopping this year? I won’t have a chance to head down to the U.S. but I am hoping to score some great deals online!
