It’s the last few days of January and if your neck of the woods looks anything like mine, the days are still too short, and the chill enduring.
And so I thought it a wonderful time for one of my Monday Inspiration posts – even if it is a Wednesday.
May your days ahead be sunny, decidedly longer, and your weather warmer.

Question: If you had to evacuate your home in an emergency what would be the one thing you would take with you? There was a fire in our condo building this week and we had to evacuate through smoke filled stairways at midnight. The Husband and I each grabbed for one thing – I brought my laptop (for the pictures) and he brought his passport! HA! I asked him where he thought he thought he was going – he laughed and said that he was getting ready to start a new life. What would you take!?!?

I would take my cat and my phone. And if somehow I could get the laptop, I would grab that too.

Funny how I took the phone and Daisy as a given – I guess I didn’t just get one thing out then!
That is SUCH a hard question… hmm. laptop and phone??

Totally my go-to choices as well!
Gorgeous pictures! I would also take my laptop for the photos

Do you backup your pictures? I love being able to edit from my laptop so they live on there and frankly I find dropbox too tedious!
Assuming my cats are intelligent enough to just get in the cat carrier and not make me chase them so I have time to grab something else (not bloody likely!), I’d grab whatever is closest of a few sentimental things:
1. ‘Family’ bible – in German with Gothic script, my great-great-grandpa gave it to my great-grandma for her wedding
2. A shadow box I have with pictures of my granddad and his (Irish) War of Independence Medal
3. My granny’s cameo ring
4. My dad’s last Irish passport with his L.I.S. paper stapled in it (and last name misspelled because his hand writing is that bad!)
5. My saxophone
Hmm, now I’m thinking maybe I should put all these items in a box and leave it near my front door ‘just in case’.
I love that you have all those family heirlooms in the first place. Have you thought of putting them in a fire proof box? I think they sell those to protect precious small goods in times of emergency.
I’ve thought about it but most of them are on display so… I’ll just have to be extra careful when I’m burning candles
