I’m sure my silence on the blog hasn’t gone unnoticed, so I think it’s about high time that I explain the why behind the lack of posting.
Generally, I try to keep my blog and upbeat place so when I started suffering from a long series of respiratory ailments (colds, the flu, and one horrific sinus infection), I chose to not share that with all of you. But of course my illnesses got in the way of what I wanted to write about – like the fact that I had bought Jillian Michael’s Body Revolution and I was excited to start. Except that I never did start, instead I waited for my breathing to clear up . . . and well that last part didn’t happen either.
So instead of writing about how I was sick like a dog, I chose to remain silent. I hope you understand.
Since my birthday (November 15th) until now, I have been sick on a pretty consistent basis. About two weeks ago, I finally cracked and went to the doctor and begged for antibiotics. He didn’t want to give me any but after describing how I was going insane, I was given a super powerful one day course that miraculously did the job.
It’s taken me a full two months but I’m almost 100% again – which means I can get back to telling you about some of my big goals for this year: 2013 is going to be the year of the runner!!!!
In all truthfulness, it’s been much too long since I last had running as a staple in my life. But that doesn’t mean I don’t remember the thrill of my feet hitting the pavement in synch to the beats on my iTunes playlist. Those moments are magical.
And so I’ve decided to bring them back!
This week I signed up for TWO races!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today, I started the training clinic for the Vancouver Sun Run (10K). It takes place on April 21st and it’s Canada’s largest road race, featuring 50, 000 people!!! The group runs will make up 1/3 of my weekly training. One of my good friends has decided to sign up to train with me, and it’s going to be fantastic to be able to act as a support for one another.
My goal for the Sun Run is just to complete it successfully and injury free – because it’s really the lead up to the main event . . . the 2013 Lululemon SeaWheeze (half marathon)!!!! Come August 10th, yours truly will be joining thousands of other neon clad “athletes” to Run Vancouver!!!! I can’t wait!!!!!!!!!!
I’m seriously beyond excited about making this the year that marks my return to running! And I can’t wait to share it all with you!
Oh and just in case you wanted to join me at the SeaWheeze, take a look at the video below. From everything I’ve heard, the inaugural race in 2012 was amazing, and this year is bound to be even more fantastic!!!
Question: What are your big fitness goals for 2013?

Sorry to hear hat you got sick for so long. Good that you are recovered now and decided to get running back to life! I wish I could have a fitness goal like running a half marathon this year or even full marathon one day. Unfortunately since I’m breastfeeding exclusively and want to do this for a year, I don’t I will do any training yet to not affect the supply.
Maybe I’m done with kids, I will train for a marathon just to fulfill my running spirit and mark an end of child-caring.
Definitely being a mommy has to take priority right now! I’m sure that will make your eventual return to running all the more exciting!!! Because let’s face it, you’re a pretty natural runner!

It’s awesome that you’re already signing up for your races! It should really help keep you on track.
Is your training clinic with a group of other runners of the Sun Run?
Samantha Angela recently posted..Master Swim Class
Yup – my training clinic is specifically designed for the Sun Run! There are a whole bunch all over the city and I chose one that came highly recommended by my friend!
Hmmm, Seawheeze is 2 days before my birthday – maybe I should sign up. Oh, wait…then I would have to do that running thing
Seriously though, good on you. I can’t fathom running for that long a period of time unless something horrible was chasing me. I think I’m allergic to running. I just want to have time to get outside more, and heal my pinched nerve issue.

Oh boo! The nerve is still bothering you!??! Hopefully that gets cleared up soon!!

Oh man, I cannot IMAGINE being sick for that long! I think I would’ve begged for the antibiotics after a few weeks of being sick! Nothing I hate more, seriously.
Can’t wait to read more about your running adventures!

lol If it weren’t for my whole belief that antibiotics are over used, I probably would have begged for them earlier! Seriously though, I was going bananas near the end.
